FIELD STUDIES

These conference field studies are available at no cost and are available to drive to yourself or carpool with friends. They are within a few minutes of Raystown Conference Center. Directions will be provided. Please register on the conference registration form.

1. JUNIATA COLLEGE FIELD STATION MAPLE FEST - This is an open invitation to Maple Fest on Saturday 3/21, 10 AM – 4 PM. You can attend any time during these hours. No meals provided, donations at the site appreciated but not required. Typical activities include making syrup, collecting sugar water, tapping demonstration, and eating waffles and fresh maple syrup.

2. JUNIATA COLLEGE FIELD STATION TOUR - A tour on Friday, 3/20 at about 2:15 PM, including basic program description and green facility tour and combined with an energy conservation lab. This is a hands-on lab where people use kill-a-watt meters to measure electricity used by household appliances and learn about energy use and conservation. This is 2.5-3 hr total with the tour.

3. TROUGH CREEK STATE PARK - Park environmentalist Heidi Mullendore will lead you to the old furnace, ice mine, and on a walk up to balance rock. We are still developing this field study and looking to add more adventure! It will take place Saturday morning 3/2, leaving the conference site at 8:30 and returning before 11:00.


These conference field studies are available at a cost and transportation will be provided. Please register on the conference registration form so we have a count.

4. LINCOLN CAVERNS - Adult Trip - This will be a tour of the Lincoln Caverns and additional educator information will be provided. Transportation will be provided. Total cost - $15 each. Be sure to designate Adult trip. Friday, 3/20, leaving at 8:30 and returning for lunch. - Children's Trip - This tour is for the children and the adults who wish to accompany them. It will be a tour of the caverns and also include an activity. Transportation provided. Total cost - $15 each. Friday, 3/20, leaving at 1:00 and returning by 4:00.
Please be sure to indicate on the registration form which trip.
Include the names of children for the Children's trip.
Please include fee with registration.
